The parish was closed in 2023 with the "All Things New" parish closures (August 1, 2023). After reviewing the petition for hierarchical recourse for Our Lady of Sorrows parish in St. Louis, the Dicastery for the Clergy rejected the petition, thus upholding Archbishop Rozanski’s May 24, 2023, decree to join Our Lady of Sorrows, through an extinctive union, to the newly erected parish temporarily named Our Lady of Sorrows, Saint Mary Magdalen, and Saint Joan of Arc Parish.
