The parish was closed in 2023 with the "All Things New" parish closures (August 1, 2023). After reviewing the petition for hierarchical recourse for Saint Matthew the Apostle Parish in St. Louis, the Dicastery for the Clergy rejected the petition, thus upholding Archbishop Rozanski’s May 24, 2023, decree to join Saint Matthew the Apostle, through an extinctive union, to the newly erected parish temporarily named Our Lady of the Holy Cross, Saint Augustine, Saint Elizabeth, Mother of John the Baptist, and Saint Matthew the Apostle Parish.
